The Mop and the Terrorist

Palestinian Freedom Fighters from the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade

My little sister is a sweet girl, but the first couple of years of her life she had an evil streak that would literally smack you upside your head. One day while I was watching cartoons my sister walked up to me with a mop in her hands. I was completely absorbed with the TV show and didn’t see the mop swing down on my head. Naturally I was enraged so I retaliated by slapping her in the face. This ignited a fit of tears and she ran straight to my father. As a result he wound up slapping me silly while my sister watched. For years I was tortured by a picture that was taken shortly before the incident. My sister was captured in a glorious color photograph clutching a dirty mop with a mischievous smile on her face. I would publish the picture, but it is thankfully lost to history.

Now let’s play a little game. Reread the above paragraph and substitute the Palestinians for my sister, Israel for me and the UN for my father. In reality the UN doesn't have the power to smack around Israel like my father did to me, but they always try their best. Cynics will say that the analogy is unfair because I was not oppressing my sister by occupying her land or killing her people. That kind of criticism doesn’t take into account that Palestinian terrorism started without provocation in 1920 and it wasn’t until nine years later (after the Hebron massacre) that the Jews began to effectively fight back. Up until that time most Jewish militias were almost exclusively formed for self-defense.

There is a golden rule that the Palestinians have continually pissed on, “you reap what you sow”. For generations they have learned to use violence in the place of dialog. Their culture has evolved to the point that violence is viewed as a commodity that should be used as leverage in any dispute. It is absolutely amazing that the greater part of the world overlooks this simple truth. The pattern of senseless brutality that is gripping the Gaza Strip is unmistakable to any person that is not corrupted by anti-Semitism.

This latest wave of Palestinian violence was initiated by the kidnapping of British “human rights” activist Kate Burton and her parents. You would think that it would be ill-advised to kidnap a Western activist who is dedicated to promoting Palestinian propaganda against Israel, but the world has given Palestinian militants a blank check to do as they please. Of course, there was some indignation at the crime, but there will be no lasting repercussions from the West.

Great Britain’s publicly funded appeasement agency, the BBC, published an article reassuring the British that the kidnappings are not motivated by hate, only the desire to embarrass the Palestinian authorities (so I guess its OK). The article is a comical rant about how hostages in Palestine are never harmed and how friendly the Palestinians really are towards foreigners.

In a typical act of subterfuge the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade issued a statement calling for the release of the hostages. Unsurprisingly, late Tuesday evening the Palestinian Authority arrested al-Aqsa Martyrs leader, Alaa al-Hams, on suspicion of carrying out the kidnapping. His followers protested by seizing Palestinian government buildings and shooting at the security headquarters in Rafah. Riding high on their show of strength the militants marched on the Gaza border crossing with Egypt and knocked down a section of a wall protecting it. They then proceeded to attack Egyptian troops who tried to block them from entering Egypt, killing two and wounding 30. I really don’t see the connection between the arrest of their leader and innocent Egyptian soldiers guarding their own border. How long will the West tolerate such behavior?

This article is not a call to hate the Palestinians. It is a call to address what should be obvious, that the Palestinians are obsessed with violence and their apologists are blind to this disease. In a press release Kate Burton’s employer, the Al Mezan Center, stated that incidents such as this kidnapping “deform the image of Palestinians and misinterpret their cause to the world”. Their concern that these senseless acts could harm the Palestinian cause is quite unfounded. The world readily accepts Palestinian brutality towards the Jews and is quite willing to ignore the brutality that they inflict upon themselves or anyone else.

i'm not surprised all it took was a mop to the side of your head. i took a butcherblock-type hardwood cheesecutting board to my younger brother's backside when he was about 14 and he's not been the same since! i assured the fact he would not speak to me for the 36 years following. we speak through others. it has worked out nicely.

now i've forgotten what the article was about and must go back and read it again...reminiscing always does that to me!

Please reread the article because there will be a test afterwards.

As I have said many times, the UN and thus the world support of the Palestinians is more about anti USA that anti-Israel. If the USA suddenly dropped support of Israel and swung to the ragheads then the rest of the world ( except of course the ragheads) would then be supporting Israel. The left wing in the USA would change their tune and try to nail whoever was in the white house to the cross-just as they are now.

It is true that the Cold War never really ended. There's still Cuba, North Korea and China. Now its the Lukewarm War.

It is worthy to note that former Communist bloc countries like Poland and Romania are our closest allies now.

You are correct that the Left is insincere about their criticisms of the Bush administration. Every day there is another accusation against the Bush administration that pans out to be bullshit. Its nothing but a witch hunt.

On different note I have to say that the term raghead sucks.

my fern, and i do have one is: radical islam cannot bully, beat, kidnap or kill people into liking them. good and honest people do not cotton to people like them.

the pali's (islam) usually take great pleasure in loving people to death. we are witness to what islam does to its own children - birthem, feedem, killem - no better than a late term abortion!

as for your statement above mine - did you mean to say "the left is insincere"? because i get the deep feeling they really mean what they say.

why does the term raghead suck? i've always wondered why people call muslims ragheads when it is the hindus mostly who wear the rags on their heads!

p.s. i meant to say "my take fern" as my opening. and i may be ready for the test - could you e-mail it to me so i can do it openbook style?

Nanc,

The Left is sincere in its beliefs but not in its tactics. In this regard they are complete liars. "Genocide in NO", "Bush lied", "Fight the draft", etc... its all BS.

Their arrogance blinds them to the consequences of their actions and their hypocrisy.

but you said "insincere"...

for pete's sake, i know they're liars and it's a bunch of horse manure - btw, who is this guy pete and why do we do anything for his sake? ;}

You may have failed to get me worked up, but you at least are on the path to reconciliation with your bro.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!

it was a no go fern - there's the thing with the chicken foot on the hanging light chain that one time...

I have nothing against chicken feet or light chains so I think he is taking it a little too hard.

it is when the chicken foot is attached to the light chain and big sis nanc kicks the living daylights out of you that you'd know what i mean - he can never forgive me for that four inch scar across his forehead - and i can never forgive him for making me put it there!

forgive my lateness in responding - it's been a long weekend with much snob beer and i really thought this post was abandoned.

I'm in a position to try to learn a little bit about what it is like to be on the "inside" of Palestinian society! This past week I launched a joint venture with a local Arab who lives two kilometres away - but an entire civilization separates us. We are exploring how each perceives the other and our common experience. Check it out:
